After traveling by plane for three to four hours, nearly every passenger had jetlag. Symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, tingling and discomfort in almost all over the body. Pain like this will increase if you smell cooking that sting. Especially when it comes time to eat (the planes). It was getting nausea and will be followed by vomiting. For flight attendants such events, jetlag, has become a daily sight. They’re back and forth to check and will take the bag containing the passengers vomit and replace with new ones. Therefore, if you provided in front of the bag for the throw (the size and shape sag / brown paper bag when you buy food at Mc Donald for the take-home), should not be used for other places. Keep if at any time during your travel needs.

Jetlag is actually a common thing in an airplane trip just like drunken passengers who experience when traveling long distance using ground vehicles and ships. Only, if you experience motion sickness can stop the vehicle at any time, glass windows can be opened to allow fresh air to flow through. You can walk around the deck to eliminate the tingling. This is very different in aircraft. There is no outside air circulation directly and of course the plane did not stop in directly. Especially if many passengers who vomited the air conditions to be “more severe” again.

To overcome this problem, use the oil eucalyptus-scented air / menthol can still help. Use a bit of a handkerchief and cover the nose. Do not be rubbed on the whole body. Because the risks for passengers who can not stand the smell of this kind will sneeze (because air circulation is limited and no fresh air directly into). And at the time at the airport, before departure or in transit, use with a walk to loosen the legs. This activity will help your situation now proceed next. Because you will be sitting for a long time. Sitting in class bone was better (because it is more comfortable) than the economy class for those of you who travel long distances. You can change your sitting position with the free (and the back of the chair position can be arranged. Because large seat area. Unlike the economy class, narrow, and the position to move is limited. There are also some friends who recommended not to eat with a very full, and drink enough water during the flight. And avoid drinking coffee, sodas or alcohol before and during flight.

The price of air fares vary greatly for many different reasons. Time of year, fuel prices, flight demand, taxes and many various deals and promotions run by the companies. However getting the best deal out of all this information can be hard and confusing. Here are 8 great tips to help you in your search for a cheap ticket on your next flight!

1 – Be Flexible
If you can afford to change the date of your arrival or departure by a little bit you can sometimes cut the cost by 25 to 50 percent amazingly! You will of course have to balance this out with cost of accommodation for extra days and of course possible inconvenience but if you can be flexible you can make great savings!

2 – Book Ahead
When we say book ahead that is not just a week but even three to four weeks ahead. The prices of plane tickets seem to climb as the number of seats goes down. If you get in early you can save amazing amounts this way especially if you are used to booking only a few days before as that is when the price as more than doubled compared to a week or so before.

3 – No Need to Stay Saturday
Many people may tell you that if you leave on a Sunday or later instead of a Saturday will save you money. Perhaps this was true once but now there seems to be no great difference between Saturday and Sunday or later. Let’s hope that helps your flexibility!

4 – Fly Midweek
While Saturday or Sunday are similar there is a distinct difference between the weekends and weekdays. Since most people travel on weekends the prices are raised for more profit, flights during the week however will be lower to various degrees so if possible plan to fly on Monday to Friday.

5 – Be Flexible on Your Airport
Sometimes choosing a close by airport to your actual destination will save you money. While you have to get transport back to your destination the cost difference between the extra public transport trip and a direct flight can be significant. Low cost airlines typically use these ’secondary airports’ and their big savings in operating costs will get passed down to you, the customer. Obviously this may add time to your trip but if you can afford the time the savings can often be well worth it.

6 – Check Return Trip Fares
Though it sounds just plain wrong sometimes return trips can cost LESS than one way trips! IF you are just going one way check the price for a return fare and you can sometimes find it cheaper! Why this is I do not know but airline promotions and sometimes just plain screw ups in their pricing system can work in your favour!

7 – Avoid Holidays
Fairly obvious this one but sometimes lost in the rush of our busy lives. Holiday season is the busiest time of the year for airline companies and they jack the price right up. If you can get in early or later you can avoid their price hikes. You can also avoid the air commuter crush of those times too!

8 – Multi-City Trips
Many airline companies offer deals on trips that have multiple stopovers. Instead of searching for individual fares for each leg of your trip see if you can get an all in one multi-city trip. These can often be cheaper then the individual trips but using all the other tips I have given it is not always so but keep it in mind!

Using these simple common sense methods you can shave hundreds of dollars off your trip which leaves you with more money to enjoy on your holiday or simply more money in the bank. You don’t even need to sacrifice on seating and comfort if you don’t want as most of these tips are a matter of good timing and organization!

A critical part of the travel budget is transportation and this often includes airfare. Travelers do more than keep an eye out on the internet for discounted flights. He or she looks for more creative ways to stretch the travel dollars.

Using Free Stop Overs

When the hubby and I traveled to Australia the first time, we flew Air New Zealand. Why? Because the airline offered a free stop over in their hub in New Zealand. We had never seen the country and were planning to tour it anyway. This way, we didn’t have to pay for airfare to and from.

The second time, we traveled to Australia, we flew Air Tahiti Nui. This airline offered, you guessed it, a free stop over in Tahiti on the way to or back. Another place we always wanted to visit.

Hidden Cities

Free stop overs are a benefit openly offered by some airlines. Hidden cities are not only unadvertised but are actively discouraged by the airlines. However they can be great savings for the frugal traveler.

An example of this is a trip from New York City to Las Vegas. Sometimes a flight from New York City to Los Angeles is less expensive, even though this same flight stops in Las Vegas to pick up more passengers. So what is to stop the frugal traveler from getting off early, at the destination he or she really wants to visit?

A few things… Luggage will be sent to the ticketed destination so this trick is for carry on only passengers. Also the flyer must remember that the return ticket should start at his or her real destination.

Getting Bumped

For the flexible, easy going traveler, being bumped for a flight is like winning the travel lottery. There is usually compensation plus you’re allowing someone else, who really needs to, to get to his or her destination on time.

Travelers knowing the rules know the compensation offered (check the carriers website), know the next flights out (be wary of carriers with once a week flights), and can weigh that against the pain of disrupted plans. The hubby and I always decide before arriving at the airport (early so we have a boarding pass to give up) whether or not it’s worth it. That way we can be the first to offer up our seats.

There are ways to increase the chance of being bumped, the simplest being booking an already quite full flight (usually a flight later on in the day).

A vacation is supposed to be a way to have fun not an army training experience where you lug a heavy pack for miles and end up sore and tired. It can be difficult to decide what, and how, to pack. Hopefully this guide will help you decide what is important, and what to leave at home. Planning in advance can help you remember the useful things, and stop the panic that happens when you forget the essentials.

One of the most basic travel packing tips is to make a list it may seem silly or pointless, but seriously, it’s so much easier to just tick off items as you put them in the suitcase. Trying to remember everything will just lead to you either forgetting something, or packing something twice.

Selecting Luggage
Picking the right suitcase, or suitcases, will make your journey much easier too. If you want to use a carry-on, check with the airline to make sure your suitcase is the right size finding out at the last minute that you need to go all the way back to check in because your bag is too big can be quite frustrating.

When selecting a suitcase, look for one that has a sturdy, pull out handle, and wheels that are made of a durable material. Be wary of ones with small handles that are attached directly to the material of the case, as these can often tear or come loose.

If you need to pack expensive evening wear, or garments that wrinkle easily, some people find that putting them in a garment bag first, then loosely laying it in the suitcase without making any hard folds, can help it survive the journey intact. If you have to cram your suitcase full of clothing, then you may have to make use of an iron at the hotel.

Packing Your Suitcase
Many people find that rolling clothing, instead of folding it, can prevent wrinkles, and also makes the clothes take up less space in the suitcase.

If you are going on a long holiday, then you may find that it is better to pack a wardrobe based around one or two colors, so that you can mix and match items to make your wardrobe last longer. Colours such as black, navy and khaki make a good base choice as they ‘go with everything.

Make sure that you take your medication, travel documents, and other essential items in your carry-on luggage. You may need a note from your doctor if you wish to bring liquid medication on board.

If you are stuck for ideas on what to pack, there are lots of web sites that offer tips and advice you can even download pre-done packing lists and just tweak them to your own liking.

However you do it, just remember that a little preparation before you leave will go a long way towards making your trip more enjoyable.

My parents came from half a world away in Vietnam to meet each other and start a family in Washington, D.C., and they’ve passed it on to my siblings and me. I was born with it.

From the time I was old enough to talk and walk, my mom made sure I knew that the world was a much bigger place than my safe bubble of Bethesda. And that there was so much to see, hear and smell. There was no food too exotic and no such thing as a picky eater. If she gave me eel to eat, I ate it. Fifty-eight years into it, she still needs to see what the rest of the world holds.

My dad was — and still is — documenting every moment of every trip. While my siblings and I moaned in embarrassment every time my dad posed us for a picture, I am forever grateful. The latest technology has allowed me to look back through my life and re-live it through pictures and video. And if you know me, you know a camera is never far from my side.

My brothers and sisters are my partners in crime. We have circled the globe together. If they have the vacation time, any city, state, or country I throw out there, they’re in. We have spent 12-hour plane rides together, five-hour ferry rides, and countless car trips. And we haven’t killed each other yet.

If you are looking to get away but don’t want to spend vast amounts of money, then follow our top tips on finding cheap flights & enjoy a life time of cheap travel. The internet is by far the best place to research & book flights. You’re also able to compare prices quickly from no-frills airlines, chartered & scheduled flights.

Some Tips & Advice on finding cheap flights

1. Always shop around for the best deals & offers, be patient & don’t get pressured into buying straight away. Remember, one company will never ever always have the lowest price on flights.

2. Be as flexible as you can, fly mid-week rather than over the weekends which tend to be more expensive.

3. As a rule, the earlier you book the cheaper the seat.

4. Most travel agents do not search all the low-cost carriers & some will only search the traditional carriers.

5. Flying from a nearby airport or secondary airport can sometimes save you money. Don’t always insist on flying from the main international airports. Search fares for flying from different airports to get the cheapest price.

6. Compare like for like, so take into account surcharges, taxes & fees for other options.

7. On certain routes & during certain times of the year it can sometimes be cheaper to book a “flight + hotel” package than it is to book a flight-only.

8. As a general rule fares for USA are usually cheaper Monday – Thursday, with flights to a European destination cheaper Tuesday – Thursday.

Other Considerations – Due to the increase in competition from no-frills airlines, the traditional carriers are now hitting back with competitive pricing. There are still some real bargains to be had with a traditional carrier. With a traditional carrier you’ll get assigned seating & some sort of in-flight service. Another very important point is that if your flight is canceled, the traditional airlines will normally be able to get you onto another flight but if not, they will more often than not arrange accommodation. With the low-cost carriers you’re on your own.

The traveling public now has more control over how & when they travel. It is especially important to take your time & become familiar with all the ways that you can find cheap flights. By following the above advice you should be able to make your money go that extra bit further & maybe visit places you could of only dreamt about.

One area always in the spotlight one way or another is travel insurance. Yet many of us still aren’t sure if it’s something we really need and to this end, many of us travel without it every year. Here are 10 top tips to help you make the right decision.

1. It is a common myth that if you take the European health card (E111) with you when you travel, you will be covered for anything that goes wrong. This is not the case. The card is just there to be given to a hospital, etc, in an emergency so they will treat you (this is still a must have for this reason). You will still be billed for any treatment you receive in a private health care system. For this reason, holiday insurance can be invaluable.

2. When applying for your insurance policy, you must inform the company of any/all medical conditions you suffer from, no matter how small or insignificant they seem. This could prove to be something that voids your policy if you do not. You will find that this most probably increases your premium, but it is worth it to keep your policy valid.

3. When looking for cheap travel insurance, be careful to check that you are not losing out on any coverage that you will need, such as theft and cancellation of holiday/flights. You may find that some policies really are too good to be true and cover you for the bare minimum.

4. If you are planning to go on a trip that may include activities that could be viewed to be dangerous by the insurance company, you may find that you will not be covered under most policies. You will need to find a policy aimed at covering for such activities, i.e. a winter ski policy or adventure holiday insurance. If you are thinking of backpacking, it would similarly be best to look for a backpacker’s policy.

5. The majority of companies offer single, multi trip, family and annual policies. If you are going to travel just once in a year as a single person or a couple, it will work out cheaper to apply for a single trip travel insurance policy. If however you will be traveling 2 or more times, a multi trip policy will save you money. The same applies to a family group. Finding separate policies will be expensive. It is better to opt for a family policy and you will save money and most probably receive cover for children (under 18) free.

6. Always check excesses on the policy you choose. Most policies are peppered with them and finding a policy with a better or no excess in an area you think relevant is prudent.

7. An important thing to remember in regards to item/theft insurance is; if you leave valuables unattended/out of sight, you will not be protected.

8. An important “don’t” is not to let your holiday provider package the holiday insurance for you as it will work out much more expensive in the long run. In less than a couple of minutes, you can find a much cheaper quote on a comparison site. Research from Alliance and Leicester has shown UK holiday makers overspend by 1.3 billion on travel insurance each year for this very reason.

9. It is important to remember that the insurance company will not pay out for an accident caused whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

10. Finally, in research done by the internet company Moneysupermarket.com, it was found that you should ensure you have the following amounts of cover as minimum: Medical expenses 2m, personal liability 1m, cancellation 3,000, baggage 1,500, cash 250, a 24 hour emergency line and cover for legal costs and finally financial ombudsman service membership in case you need to complain.

Insurance and Roadside Assistance for Your Caravan Holiday
It is not until your vehicle breaks down that you realize just how much you really need insurance and roadside assistance. This is even more compounded when you are a long way from home on a holiday and you have no other way of getting anywhere or doing anything if your car or caravan has broken down.

You can not put a monetary price on your peace of mind. Insurance and roadside assistance provides that peace of mind when you are traveling so you can just enjoy your holiday.

Insurance
Before you take out your insurance, make sure you read and understand what is actually covered. Make sure it covers everything you need for the activities you have planned for your holiday and also covers the areas you intend to visit and stay. If you intend on going off the beaten track, doubly make sure this is covered. Check out the “extras”, including such items as a free car hire in the event of an accident and if this appeals to you it may be worth paying the little bit extra. Prices can vary quite significantly so shop around first.

Make sure your comprehensive insurance covers both your vehicle and caravan. The benefits are obvious: the loss of some personal items within a vehicle is covered, as is damage to the vehicle through theft, vandalism or accident. Perhaps the most important benefit is the peace of mind you will have knowing you are covered if you are unfortunate to need insurance. Make sure you carry copies of your insurance policies with you when you are on the road.

Roadside Assistance
Many new motor vehicles are sold with a manufacturer’s warranty that includes roadside assistance in the event of a breakdown. The warranty varies from one to three years or “X” number of kilometres, depending on the make and model of the vehicle. Check your policy carefully before you go. Make sure it covers the kind of travel you intend and the places you want to go. Details of your roadside assistance package, including contact numbers, are usually contained in the glove-box folder.

If you are not buying a new vehicle and not covered as above with your existing vehicle or you do not think the warranty offered is suitable, you should consider becoming a member of your State based motoring organization. Similar to your insurance and roadside assistance, you will only fully realize the benefits of becoming a member if you break down and need them. The State based organizations all offer reciprocal breakdown assistance around Australia .

Different levels of membership are offered, so check out what is most suitable to you. If you are planning towards more adventurous activities you may wish to go for the top level cover, which in most areas offers unlimited service calls and free towing. Motoring organizations also offer travel advice and sell maps, guide and car accessories. Once you have used their services, you may decide that the membership fee was the best money you ever spent.

As of August 4, 2007 common lighters are permitted in carry-on baggage and on your person when walking through security checkpoint, though, you are only allowed a total of four books of safety matches per person. Matches and lighters are prohibited in checked baggage with one exemption for lighters. Lighters without fuel are permitted in checked baggage. Lighters with fuel are prohibited in checked baggage, unless they adhere to the Department of Transportation (DOT) exemption, which allows up to two fueled lighters if properly enclosed in a DOT approved case. If you are uncertain as to whether your lighter is prohibited in checked baggage, then pack your lighters in your carry-on baggage or on your person.

Torch Lighters are still prohibited in carry-on and checked baggage. Torch lighters create a thin, needle-like flame that is hotter (reaching 2,500 degrees Fahrenheit) and more intense than those from common lighters. Torch lighters are often used for pipes and cigars, and maintain a consistent stream of air-propelled fire regardless of the angle at which it is held.

When I worked in checked baggage, back when lighters were banned, I had to concentrate on searching for lighters and matches as well as IED’s (Improvised Explosive Devices) and other prohibited items. I am positive all screeners and passengers are relieved that the lighter ban has been lifted. No more focusing on lighters, unless they are in checked baggage. It was a very tedious job and now that it is over, the screeners can concentrate on more threatening items such as IED’s and their components.

The ban on lighters when into effect April 15, 2005 and TSA was confiscating 22,000 lighters a day across the nation. My question is why were there a total of 11,616,217 lighters confiscated in the year 2006? Do we think the rules don’t apply to us? I would hear passengers in line say, “I’ll just sneak my lighters through and they will never see it.” Well, that passenger was wrong. Don’t think you can sneak prohibited items through security checkpoint. Arm yourself with my information and be prepared for security. You will reduce your stress level and make your trip a happy one.

TIPS
1. Carry lighters and only four books of safety matches in your carry-on or on your person.

2. Don’t pack your matches or any lighters in checked baggage. They will be removed.

3. Don’t use a Marlboro bag for checked luggage. This is a big tip there may be lighters or matches in your bag.

4. Don’t buy lighters while traveling and expect to return home with them, unless they are packed in your carry-on or on your person.

5. Torch lighters are still prohibited in checked and carry-on baggage.
